Using Tarot Cards to Inspire Direction in Fiction

Stuck?

Take out your deck.  Mine is the Goddess Deck by Kris Waldherr.

Close your eyes.  Focus on the question or dilemma or emotion.  Shuffle.  Feel the cards glide through your hands like a stream of water.

Should a card fall from the deck, claim it as the one that’s speaking to you.

If not, continue shuffling until you are ready to choose one.

Trust that your hands will find the right card.  And that whatever card it finds is the right one for this moment.

Study the image.  What draws your attention?  What is the overall mood?  What does the text say?

How could you include this into your story?  What might you consider about its influence?  Is it a character’s plight, or advice for you as the author?

You’ll know what to do.
