Maternity Leave Notice: November 2022 – January 2023

Hi, friends! I’m happy to report that I’ll be taking Maternity Leave between November 2022 and January 2023 to welcome our second baby, a boy whose name is still (mostly) undecided.

If you’d like to work together before I go into full-on baby mode, please reach out! I have 2 new client spots open for editing or coaching between now and November.

Current clients, fear not: I’ll be available to you as usual, give or take a couple of weeks! This notice is primarily for new clients. 🙂

Contemplating the Belly: Before & During Pregnancy

Some women are born into a struggle of self-worth. I am one of those women who came barreling through the birth canal, unsure of her purpose, unsure of why she was being selected for this life on earth. I woke up in the womb, terrified of the dark. I asked God why he would abandon me. Where… Continue reading Contemplating the Belly: Before & During Pregnancy

Submitting Poems After a 7-Year Hiatus

Ha! Amateur mistake. I noticed that the editor of the magazine is still the same person. Part of me wondered if I should clarify who I am now since they keep a record of submissions / acceptances / rejections with notes like, “We regret to inform you we cannot publish this poem because of its appearance on another platform.”

Book Review: We Rule the Night by Claire Eliza Bartlett

Part sci-fi, part reimagining history, author Claire Eliza Bartlett shines light on how female empowerment and friendship coexist with the horrible disasters of war in her novel, We Rule the Night. Inspired by the Night Witches, female Soviet fighter pilots during WWII, the story focuses on Linne and Revna who become unlikely friends and soldiers.

29th Degree in Astrology + Saturn Return

Any astrology buffs in here? I was experiencing a couple of emotionally frustrating days, so I decided to check out some things in The Stars. Mercury turned direct again, but it’s still in a shadow period where its energies are kind of clicking back into gear, sometimes with a few scary screeches. An article I… Continue reading 29th Degree in Astrology + Saturn Return

How to Think About Fire

Fires all around in Southern California. My thought was, “Wow, we don’t even need the threat of nuclear devastation — we have these fires!” But, that isn’t right-minded either. I am doing my best to practice forgiveness in this moment, remembering that all I see outside of me is an effect, not a cause. My… Continue reading How to Think About Fire

Labels: Wisdom by Wayne Dyer

“Make an effort to remove all labels that you’ve placed on yourself. Labels serve to negate you. You must ultimately live up to the label rather than being the limitless spirit that is your true essence. You’re not an American, an Italian, or an African. You’re a member of one race, the human race. You’re… Continue reading Labels: Wisdom by Wayne Dyer
