Taking on clients again!

Hi, friends! It’s been a beautiful and healing time — nearly three months as a mom of two! My daughter turned two last week, so I now no longer have the excuse of “two under two” when things go awry, ha. My son, Isaiah, recently started to smile and laugh, and when he does, it’s like a thousand flowers bursting at once. I love it.

Big transitions (like motherhood) naturally evoke an evaluation of what’s most pressing and important. I am listening to my inner wisdom when it comes to how I can be of service to the world beyond my family, in a way that feels validating, enriching and worthwhile.

Maternity Leave Notice: November 2022 – January 2023

Hi, friends! I’m happy to report that I’ll be taking Maternity Leave between November 2022 and January 2023 to welcome our second baby, a boy whose name is still (mostly) undecided.

If you’d like to work together before I go into full-on baby mode, please reach out! I have 2 new client spots open for editing or coaching between now and November.

Current clients, fear not: I’ll be available to you as usual, give or take a couple of weeks! This notice is primarily for new clients. 🙂

Book Review: A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.”

Writers with Writing Jobs

Hi, friends. I’ve got to get serious for a second. JK. I’m always serious. But seriously. I need to know if your story is like mine. People who write for creative expression: do you also write to make a living? Is writing a big bulk of your job? It is for me. I write resumes.… Continue reading Writers with Writing Jobs

How to Think About Fire

Fires all around in Southern California. My thought was, “Wow, we don’t even need the threat of nuclear devastation — we have these fires!” But, that isn’t right-minded either. I am doing my best to practice forgiveness in this moment, remembering that all I see outside of me is an effect, not a cause. My… Continue reading How to Think About Fire

News Report: Dec. 5, 2017

I woke up to smoke. Then a sepia-stained sky.  Did we get attacked? I checked the news about North Korea. Headlines read: Ventura County Wild Fires. They started last night around 6:30. We are an hour’s drive South. Did the Santa Ana winds carry smoke that far? Another headline: Sylmar Fires. 4 a.m. From us, a fifteen-minute drive North. It… Continue reading News Report: Dec. 5, 2017

confessions from an almost-married woman.

12 days until I get married, and I’m crying like there’s been a death. I guess there has been — a month ago, a close friend: the mother of two people I care about so deeply, who feel like family from another life. Many lives. It’s all tied together — the joy of creating the new with the… Continue reading confessions from an almost-married woman.

Your Writing Voice

How much of writing is re-writing? How much of living is re-living? I sip my coffee. I remember the voice inside of me croaking out; she’s hoarse; she’s deep; she’s poised. I remember shouting for someone to love me. Men. All of them. Love me. I remember this voice changing. Going dark for boys with… Continue reading Your Writing Voice
